Picking the right CBD product can be confusing. I know this because I’ve had my share of the painful process of trying different “CBD” products before I finally found what works. In this blog, I’ll provide helpful tips on selecting quality CBD products specific to your needs, so you don’t have to experience what I did.
Knowing your CBDs is an important part of picking the right CBD that you need because you can’t make a good judgment of something out of ignorance. So allow me to clear the confusion between CBD, THC, and hemp seed oil. Very often, it is easy to confuse these three products.
Some companies dubiously market THC (a psychoactive component of marijuana that causes highness) as CBD or hemp seed oil, even though hemp seed oil neither contains CBD nor THC. One helpful practice is to note the mg concentration of CBD in a container or mg per dose. CBD is often marketed as hemp extract.
You’d do well to pay attention to the cost of CBD offered for the concentration you’re buying. Unusually low cost for high concentrations of CBD could be indicative of something fishy. Note that hemp seed oil usually contains between 3000-10,000 concentration range per bottle, while CB has a much lower concentration between 250-3000 per bottle.
Also, check the certificate of authenticity available. Whether CBD Tinctures, CBD oils, or sublingual CBD, the product’s authenticity is important.
Types of CBD Products
- Isolate CBD: contains only CBD molecules, has little flavor, and is the most pleasant orally. It is often taken via the sublingual route for maximum effect. An example is our CBD Isolate Tincture.
- Broad Spectrum CBD: contains most but not all hemp constituents.
- Full spectrum CBD: contains all constituents of hemp. It is the most efficient, especially for pain management.
The Right CBD Dosage
- 250ml can suffice for pet pain.
- 1000mg/ounce for occasional anxiety/stress.
- 2000mg/ounce for chronic pain (resulting from fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, or pain from recent surgery).
Research shows that full spectrum + isolate CBD is best for chronic pain. The trace amounts of THC, cannabinoids, terpenoids, & flavonoids in full-spectrum CBD manage Chronic pain even better.
How Effective is Topical CBD?
Unfortunately, most topicals have been dismissed as ineffective because of their low strengths. However, topical CBD is effective for pain if it contains trace full spectrum CBD and is at least 1000mg/2ounce bottle concentration or 2000mg/2ounce strength for severe pain. Some people are relieved by 500/2ounce bottle concentration, however short-lived.
CBD for Sleep
The type of CBD doesn’t appear to matter when administered for sleep issues or anxiety. You can use CBD isolate tincture in Northern Idaho for sleep issues. Whereas, for pain management, full spectrum CBD must be present in trace amounts in topical CBD.
An average person needs 20-30mg of CBD Tinctures for quality sleep, while some might need close to 50mg.
