CBD (cannabidiol) is not a foreign substance to the human body. The body produces a type of cannabinoid called endocannabinoids naturally within the Endocannabinoid System, or ECS.
The ECS plays an important role the regulation of physiological and cognitive processes throughout the human body for optimal human performance. When environmental pollutants and dietary deficiencies throw the body’s balance off, CBD supplementation works within the ECS to help the body do what it is designed to do – regain balance.
The ECS regulates: sleep, appetite, mood, motor control, immune function, pleasure, pain, reproduction and fertility, memory, and temperature regulation, to name a few.
There are several ways to supplement with CBD, the best overall being sublingual oils, whether you are using an isolate or a full spectrum. Vape tends to deliver quicker bioavailability but the effects also wear off sooner, and there is widespread concern about the safety of vape liquids themselves, with no perfect solution for a ‘healthy’ vape delivery system.
Capsules and edibles are an excellent alternative for those who prefer not to experience the characteristic grassy flavor of full spectrum tinctures. However, research shows that our first pass metabolism tends to screen out a significant amount of the CBD molecule when ingested, so there is some waste, and higher doses are needed to get the same effects as a sublingual.
Research shows that full spectrum, or ‘whole plant’ extract tends to provide more complete health benefits than isolate based extracts in most applications. The synergistic interaction of the over 100 constituents in full spectrum extract is called the ‘entourage effect’. It is the terpenes and other phytonutrients that produce the signature grassy odor and flavor.
Fortunately, we’ve identified a method to dramatically improve the palatability of a full spectrum extract, and many of our customers enjoy the flavored full spectrum extract and choose that option for its heightened healing powers.
In our personal experience, and in working with hundreds of customers, we’ve found isolates to be equally effective in treating autoimmune disease, sleep, mood, and anxiety related concerns, however we do find full spectrum to be a little more effective in addressing pain.
We harness the power of other powerful botanicals in addition to CBD when it comes to consciously crafting topical pain support solutions. We employ over 30 different essential oils for topical pain support, addressing skin conditions, and for aromatherapy benefits.
Consult your doctor before use if you have been advised against eating grapefruit. CBD can have an interaction with certain drugs in a manner similar to grapefruit. Compounds in grapefruit can interact with certain pharmaceutical drugs by inhibiting cytochrome P450 enzymes, a family of liver enzymes that metabolizes these drugs. CBD can also inhibit these enzymes when consumed in high enough doses, so exercise the same care as with grapefruit.
